Seasons Buxton
I visited Seasons for a quick pint (or two) shortly after it first opened and proudly declared to my friend that it was “my new favourite bar” – and it still very much is. From the outset, it was quite simply streets ahead of anything else in Buxton in terms of range, quality and value – and this is in an area already sporting a number of very decent, popular craft beer establishments.
On walking through the front door you are promptly welcomed by the hosts’ Steve and Sarah, a husband and wife team who share a real passion for craft beer and wine. Their exquisite little bar is an intimate venue and you are soon made to feel very comfortable. Marvel at the bespoke furniture, enjoy the very interesting collection of artworks that adorn the walls or happily sit gazing through the large, picture windows if people-watching is your thing! Everything within the bright and airy setting of Seasons comes together to produce a warm and welcoming environment for either a quick pint after a walk with the dog (yes, they’re welcome too) or a more leisurely lunchtime or evening session spent working your way through six keg lines of ever-changing local and craft ales, numerous wine choices or the well-stocked fridges. Weather permitting; there is a small section of outdoor space to enjoy a drink or two in the open air too.
It’s hard to find fault with Seasons, although I concede that it’s hard to be objective about the place having developed such a soft spot for it. If I had to look for one then the immediately obvious one would be the lack of a ‘proper’ kitchen as such but please don’t let this put you off…Seasons have teamed up with specialist charcuterie and cheese suppliers to offer some delicious looking sharing platters. Not only this, but they also offer freshly baked sausage rolls – pork and black pudding or pork and apple – as well as vegan/vegetarian grazing options from The Herb Garden Bistro in Buxton.
Aside from the fact that it’s become too damn successful and busy at times, there’s really nothing I can think of to complain about Seasons Buxton – which is decidedly unlike me. If you haven’t done so already, pay Seasons a visit…it’ll soon become your new favourite bar!
