La Gaby Pizzeria
Located at the end of Spring Gardens and nestled beneath the Grove Hotel in Buxton, La Gaby is a popular restaurant that serves traditional Neapolitan-style pizza. It is by far the best pizza that you will taste in Buxton, without a doubt!
What makes a difference is the fact that the dough is made fresh every day, on-site, with only four ingredients: Italian ’00’ flour, yeast, sea salt, and water…just like in Naples!
La Gaby offers authentic pizza, made by hand and with passion. They use only the finest ingredients, simple and fresh, imported from Italy and locally sourced here in the Peak District.
La Gaby is a family-run business and the pizzeria itself pays homage to their grandparents. We visited La Gaby with friends of ours on a beautiful sunny day last August and as soon as we stepped through the doors we were treated with a very warm welcome, made to feel like part of the family as we sat at our table.
The restaurant has an intimate feel but is very clean, bright, and tastefully decorated. It offers a relaxed and informal style of dining, where the food is prepared and cooked in an open kitchen right in front of you. On a warm summer day like when we visited, you could easily be forgiven for thinking that you were sitting in a villa somewhere in the Mediterranean.
La Gaby offers an interesting menu of antipasti, salads, sides, and starters but it was the pizza we visited for and we were not disappointed. Alongside a selection of ‘classics,’ you’ll find some very interesting ‘specials’ to suit all tastes..from ham and mushrooms to nduja and hot honey. We tried a selection but I think the favourite of the day was the La Diavola which consisted of tomato, fior di latte, nduja, spicy salame, hot honey, and fresh basil.
We made quite a bold claim at the start of this review that this is the best pizza that you will taste in Buxton, and we’ll stand by that statement. The freshness of the ingredients and toppings, and the light, airy crust – combined with the incredible service – make for a wonderful experience and we would highly recommend a visit to La Gaby Pizzeria.
